Goals for Ministry with Adolescents
Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

St. Mary Cathedral Youth have many opportunities to help them grow in their Catholic faith.
Some of these opportunities include:
New Life TEC Retreat
TEC (To Encounter Christ). This retreat is designed for Catholics who are late semester juniors, seniors in high school or early college. An amazing journey through the Paschel Mystery awaits your attendance. A fun spiritual weekend with your peers in the surroundings of the woods of Camp Dagget just West of Petoskey. You will hear witness' from those who walk in the path with you and some of the obstacles they have encountered and overcome. Along with fun, games, sharing and the Holy Spirit, it makes for a weekend that will stay alive in you forever. Dates for this retreat are March 3-5, 2017. Cost is $75 per person and includes all lodging, meals, and materials.

National Catholic Youth Conference
NCYC took place November 19-21, 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sixteen St. Mary Cathedral Parish High School students (and 150 from across our Diocese) joined over 25,000 teens in prayer, Mass, fellowship, and so much more. Read more
2017 NCYC will be held November 16-18 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Cost is $550. Read more
Michigan Catholic Young Adult Conference
The Dioceses in Michigan come together for young adults, ages 18-39. In 2017, the Conference will be held March 31-April 1 in Canton, MI.
March for Life in Washington DC
The 2017 March for Life was held on January 27 in Washington, D.C. The Gaylord Right to Life Affiliate once again coordinated the annual Red Eye Bus Trip to Washington D.C.
The March for Life began as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.

There are a variety of opportunities for our students to be of service to others. You may see some of our students visiting the elderly at McReynold's Hall or helping at a local event. If you are looking for some help on a project, feel free to contact Marie Hahnenberg at 989.705.3568

CONNECTIONS: formerly the Christian Leadership Institute "CLI"
New name, new location, more fun!
Connections empowers young people grades 9-12 through prayer and worship to recognize their own gifts and provides leadership training that assists youth to become strong Christian leaders in their parish, community and school. Sponsored by the Diocese of Gaylord, their goal is to promote authentic Catholic leadership to our youth so that they may assume leadership roles.
