Angel Tree Ministry
The Angel Tree ministry has been in existence at St. Mary Cathedral Parish for more than twenty years. This ministry is one way we as disciples can address the needs of the poor and vulnerable which is one of the Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching. We work in conjunction with the United Way to provide gifts of new clothing for needy children as well as elderly folks who are home bound or residents of nursing homes in our community. This ministry is short in duration. It starts in early November and is finished in the second week of December.
You are invited to participate in any of the following ways:
- Assist with setting up the Angel Tree in the gathering space, which includes putting Angel tags on the boards for selection by the parishioners, and helping parishioners with selecting angel tags each week after the Masses until they are all taken.
- Sorting the unwrapped gifts and arranging for delivery to the United Way gift headquarters each week.
- Sorting and organizing the gifts to be wrapped and delivered. Participating in the wrapping party.
- Delivering the gifts.
If you are looking for a really rewarding way to share the holiday spirit, to bring joy to others and find it yourself, this is the ministry for you. We would love to have your smiling face join us in this very fun and rewarding ministry.
